Sins of the Past
The city of Sanctity is the capital of the Republic and the only truly full fledged city in the entire country, and yet it is only a number of decades old. Built over the remains of a sprawling city on the bay, many of the ruins themselves have been excavated and gone into the construction of the current buildings. As such Sanctity seems to be caught between time, possessing modern structures composed of re-purposed materials dating back 300 years or, in some cases, far more ancient than that. It is not uncommon to see old billboards making up a facade, advertising products extinct for centuries, or the filigreed blocks of an old cathedral now making up the storefront of a butcher, or even hand carved columns thousands of years old, carefully rebuilt and reinforced, holding up a porch. It is truly a wonder, and helps to solidify Sanctity’s ideal that all beings, all cultures, and all creeds can live together in harmony.
